Joanna has over 16 years experience in marketing having held senior roles in both agency and client-side businesses. Tenacious, ambitious and entrepreneurial by nature, Joanna became Head of Group Marketing of a national leisure business at 25yo. At 29yo, she set up leisure sector consultancy, which rapidly grew and developed into ‘drink’, an integrated marketing agency specialising in the leisure, food and beverage sectors. In 2011, Joanna set up ZAK Media Group with Matthew Bennett as a vehicle to develop and grow boutique marketing agencies. Joanna has a passion for creating and building brilliant brands, whilst developing a creative, supportive and spirited environment for the group.
Joanna appeared as an expert on BBC3’s ‘Be Your Own Boss’ alongside co-founder of Innocent Smoothies, Richard Reed. Joanna has featured in ‘Save The Local’, a pilot series for Prospect Pictures, co-presenting with Will Beckett, Founder of Hawksmoor Restaurants.Back to menu
Matthew started his career in marketing as a creative and has over 18 years experience in advertising, brand strategy, marketing communications and product design. Naturally strategic Matthew soon moved into broader, senior management roles covering most disciplines of agency life. Matthew has extremely strong sector experience in sport, leisure, food, beverage and FMCG gained from working for award winning agencies, as well as running his own creative and strategic marketing agency where he managed a variety of Pan European, blue chip brands. There were strong synergies with Matthew and Joanna’s businesses so in 2011, they set up ZAK Media Group as a vehicle to develop and grow boutique marketing agencies.
Matthew is a believer that brands, products and services live and die in the mind of their audience and not their marketing department, so he advocates creating ideas aimed at changing or affirming consumers’ perceptions first and foremost. Responsible for the creative (and strategic) output of the group, Matthew challenges everyone to start and end their day with creativity in mind.Back to menu
Alison has over 25 years experience working with small to medium sized growing young businesses, with particular interest in the areas of Management Consultancy, PR, Event Planning, Sponsorship, Mobile Marketing, Celebrity Management, Online Retailers and Design Agencies — all with the common factor of being “people businesses”. Alison has particular expertise in preparing businesses for future sale or MBO and laying the foundations for young agencies to grow. She works closely with Joanna, to facilitate ZAK Media Group’s ambitious growth plans from both an operational and financial perspective.
